Irish Chronicals is a small, independent walking-tour company based in Dublin 8. We run a fixed schedule of historian-led tours covering Dublin's eight defining landmarks, plus private and educational tours by arrangement.
How We Work
Every tour is led by a working historian, archaeologist or specialist writer. We do not work with general-purpose tour guides; we do not contract our walks out to a roster of self-employed entertainers. The same dozen or so guides have been with us since the founding of the company, and the depth of the tours reflects that continuity.
We cap groups at twelve places on standard walks and six on archive and library mornings. We follow real archive sources, not folklore. We tell the truthful version of the stories, including the uncomfortable parts, which in Dublin's case are unavoidable.
What We Do Not Do
We do not run pub crawls, ghost walks, food tours, hen parties, or "1916 in costume" experiences. Our reading of Dublin's history is admiring but unsentimental: the city has earned the seriousness with which we approach it.

Our Guides
Our guiding team includes a former curator at the National Library of Ireland, a postdoctoral medievalist who has worked on the Wood Quay excavations, an archivist at the Royal Irish Academy, a published Swift scholar, a historian of the Easter Rising who has written for the Royal Irish Academy Dictionary of Irish Biography, and a working architectural conservator. Where a tour requires deeper specialist expertise — for example a manuscript-room visit — we bring the relevant guide in for that particular walk.
Where to Find Us
Our office is on the ground floor of 14 Pleasants Street, in the Georgian terrace just off Camden Street. Visitors are welcome between 10am and 5pm Monday to Saturday; we are closed Sundays except by appointment.
